Mississippi Sea Wolves News Release
BILOXI, Miss. â Mississippi Sea Wolves general manager and coach Bob Woods announced today the team has signed free agent goaltender Jason Wolfe (WUHLF).
Wolfe, 26, appeared in 37 regular season games last season for the now-defunct Roanoke Express of the ECHL. The 6-foot-5 and 230-pound Wolfe posted a 16-16-3 record, 3.35 goals against average and .913 save percentage with the Express last season. A native of College Park, Maryland, Wolfe went 1-1 in the postseason, recording a 3.53 goals against average and .943 save percentage. He posted a career-high 56 saves on April, 12, 2004 at Florida in Game 4 of the Southern Division Semifinals. Wolfe enters his third full professional season.
"It's a new start for me and I'm really excited," said Wolfe. "Mississippi is a great organization. I had really good conversations with coach Bob Woods, and I'm looking forward to getting to Biloxi. Over the summer, I've been working out with Jeff Halpern of the Washington Capitals, plus college players. So, I'll be ready by training camp."
"Jason is a huge goalie that uses his size to his advantage," said Woods. "I haven't seen him play, but I've heard great things about his game from everyone that I've spoken with about Jason. We are looking for big things from Wolfe between the pipes."
Wolfe becomes the second goaltender to sign with Mississippi for 2004-05, joining Randy Hevey. He is the 16th player to ink a one-year contract with the team including defensemen Mike Jarmuth, Jason Kean, Mike Martone, Milt Mastad and Austin Miller. Forwards signed to deals consist of Anthony Battaglia, Nicolas Corbeil, Bobby Cunningham, Lucas Drake, Louis Dumont, Jeff Hutchins, Jay Legault, Travis Lisabeth and Tristan Lush.
The Sea Wolves pursuit of the 2005 Kelly Cup starts on October 22 at home against the Louisiana IceGators at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.
Season ticket packages are on sale at (228) 275-WOLF. Starting at just $220, a ticket package includes 36 regular season home games and four playoff contests.
Sponsorship opportunities are available by calling (228) 388-6151.
