Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Ice Dogs let a two-goal lead slip, but managed to end a four-game losing streak by beating the Aces, 3-2, Friday night at Long Beach Arena. It was the seventh victory in eight games against Anchorage (10-22-2) this year for Long Beach. The Ice Dogs host fourth-place Fresno Saturday night.

Pat Brush recorded the quickest goal of the season for Long Beach (13-17-2), beating Anchorage goalie Ryan Person 25 seconds into the game.

Michal Pinc built the Ice Dogs lead to 2-0 when he battled down the left-side boards and lifted the puck over Person's stick at 11:33. It was Pinc's second goal with Long Beach and sixth overall this year.

The Ice Dogs didn't have time to celebrate for long because Dean Larson was stopped by Long Beach goaltender B.J. Boxma on a breakaway less than a minute later. An uncontested Kevin McNeill found the rebound and scored at 12:26 to narrow the lead within one.

Anchorage evened the contest 1:23 in the second period on a broken play with the puck resting three-feet in front of the crease until B.J. Young went top-shelf to beat Boxma. Chris Peyton, playing in his 100th WCHL and Long Beach game, put the Dogs back in the lead for good when he fired a wrister from the right face-off circle at 17:35.

Boxma (9-6-0) recorded 27 saves in the game, and Person stopped 31 shots. It was the 17th game this year Long Beach has outshot its opponent and the 18th in which the Dogs have put up 30 or more shots in a game.
