January 10, 2003 - ECHL (ECHL)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release

Countdown to Face-off Kalamazoo Wings Vs Missouri River Otters Wings Stadium Kalamazoo, MI Friday, January 10, 2003 7:30 PM

Game Preview Without question the Missouri River Otters are the hottest team in the UHL. They enter Wings Stadium on an 8 game winning streak. In fact, the last team to defeat Missouri were the Kalamazoo Wings back on 12/22 @ the Family Arena in St. Charles, Missouri. However, when the K-Wings lace their skates tonight against Missouri they will not only be trying to stop a two game losing streak, but they will also try to prevent history. After losing their first three games away from St. Charles, the River Otters have gone 11-0-1 in their last 12 games, including their current franchise record 10 game road-winning streak. A Missouri victory tonight at Wings Stadium will tie the River Otters with the 1999-2000 Quad City Mallards and the 1999-2000 B.C. Icemen for the league record for consecutive road victories.

While most teams in the league have struggled against the River Otters, the K-Wings have played well against Missouri. Of the their 5 previous meetings, Kalamazoo is 2-1-2 against the River Otters, with both shootout losses occurring in Wings Stadium. The K-Wings enter tonight's game trying to prevent the longest home losing streak of the season. Kalamazoo is the middle of the two game home losing streak. A victory night would be a huge momentum builder for Kalamazoo, who trails Muskegon and Flint for the fourth playoff spot in the Western Conference by three and a half games. Elvis will be back in the building tonight, as the K-Wings welcome "The Voice of Elvis" Doug Church, on Viva Las Vegas Night. Also, a lucky fan will be leaving Wings Stadium with a trip to Las Vegas. The trip will include airfare for two, as well as a two-night stay at the New York, New York Casino. Wings Stadium/Kalamazoo Wings would like tonight's game sponsors for making this night possible: WOTV, WQXC, Spirit Airlines, and New York, New York Casino.

Three's Not a Charm The K-Wings enter Wings Stadium trying to prevent their longest home losing streak of the season. Kalamazoo has lost two straight games here at Wings Stadium entering their game tonight against the River Otters.

Lost the Keyes Wednesday's night game against Elmira was a first for forward Richard Keyes. The game marked the first time this season that Keyes was held without a shot.

Finishing What they Started Kalamazoo will try to stop Missouri's attempt for history. Entering tonight, the River Otters have won 10 straight road games, which is one shy of league record of 11. The River Otters streak of 10 consecutive road victories started here at Wings stadium back on November 16th.

Trapping the Otters Besides having the longest road-winning streak in the UHL, the River Otters also come to Kalamazoo with the leagues longest overall winning streak of the season at 8 games. The last team to defeat the River Otters were the Kalamazoo Wings back on December 22nd @ Missouri.
