
Generals Rebound with 7-2 Victory

GREENSBORO, NC - Following a night where the Greensboro Generals allowed eight goals by the Charlotte Checkers, Greensboro had an offensive explosion of its own. In front of 5,342 in attendance, the Generals defeated the nemesis Richmond Renegades 7-2 at the Greensboro Coliseum.
The Generals (24-10-4) jumped out with two goals in the first period, where Pete Gardiner converted a power play at the 9:57 mark. Ole Kjensted recorded the first goal of his hat trick in the waning moments of the first to put the Generals up 2-0 at that point.
Richmond (19-18-3) would retaliate in the second with a goal by Nick Lent at the 11:12 mark, only to have the Generals score the next four goals of the period. Just 1:13 later, Ole Kjensted scored a power play goal to push the lead to 3-1. Sam Ftorek continued the onslaught with as he lite the lamp for the team-leading 21st goal. Kjensted would close out the period, while making the score 5-1 Generals.
The Generals stretched the lead to 6-1 with a goal by David Whitworth at the 5:20 mark of the third. The final Generals goal came just 1:28 later when Mark Turner scored the seventh goal of the night, after recording four assists and tying the Generals record with five points in a single game. The Renegades Lars Pettersen recorded a power-play goal to make the final 7-2. Netminder Jamie Hodson earned his ninth win of the season as he stopped 33 shots on goal.
Greensboro will return home on Saturday, January 11th to face the Peoria Riverman. Season ticket holders will be able to redeem previously unused season tickets for this game. Fans can also take advantage of special ticket prices that will include all goal view tickets selling for $7, and $6 groups of 10 or more.
