
Lalime Named DirecTV/NHL Center Ice East Coast Hockey League Alumnus of the Month for December

PRINCETON, N.J. - Former Hampton Roads Admirals and current Ottawa Senators goaltender Patrick Lalime is the DirecTV/NHL Center Ice East Coast Hockey League Alumnus of the Month for December.
The DirecTV/NHL Center Ice ECHL Alumnus of the Month is awarded to a former ECHL player currently playing in the NHL. There have been 206 former ECHL players that have gone on to play in the NHL, including 57 in 2002-03.
Selected by Pittsburgh in the sixth round (156th overall) in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft, Lalime played in the ECHL in his first professional season, going 15-7-3 with a 3.35 goals against average and a .894 save percentage in 26 games with the Hampton Roads Admirals.
In the month of December, Lalime was 7-3-2 with a 2.12 goals against average and a ..933 save percentage in 12 starts for the Eastern Conference leading Senators. He is 19-11-5 and is tied for fourth in the NHL with 19 wins and tied for sixth in the NHL with three shutouts. He is eighth in the NHL with a 2.17 goals against average and is 14th in the NHL with a .913 save percentage. He led all NHL goaltenders in the 2002 Stanley Cup Playoffs with a 1.39 goals against average and a .946 save percentage.
Lalime began his NHL career in 1996-97 going 21-12-2 with three shutouts, a 2.94 goals against average and a .913 save percentage in 39 games with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He broke the NHL record for the longest unbeaten streak by a rookie goaltender, going 14-0-2, and was named to the NHL All-Rookie Team. He also was named NHL Rookie of the Month twice and NHL Player of the Week once.
Following two seasons in the International Hockey League, he returned to the NHL in 1999-2000 with Ottawa and is 101-68-21 with 20 shutouts, a 2.35 goals against average and a .909 save percentage in 195 games with the Senators. The 28-year-old Lalime ranks first all-time for the Senators in games played (195), wins (101) and shutouts (20). He is 122-80-23 with 23 shutouts, a 2.44 goals against average and a .910 save percentage in 234 games in the NHL.
