Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release
LONG BEACH, Calif. â The Long Beach Ice Dogs (6-3-0) fell to the Alaska Aces (6-5-1) Saturday night, 3-0, after shutting out the Aces the night before. The Ice Dogs were going for the fourth win in a row, but were unable to get on the scoreboard despite playing in front of 4,779 fans, the largest crowd of the season thus far.
The Ice Dogs were out-shot 41-27, being shut down by Alaska goalie, Peter Aubry. Olivier Michaud was credited with the loss for Long Beach, despite making 38 saves. Joe Talbot of the Aces scored the games' first goal and eventual game winner at 14:28 of the 1st period. In the 2nd period, Chris Minard and Kimbi Daniels scored 1:27 apart to give Alaska the 3-0 lead.
The Ice Dogs appeared to score midway through the 3rd period when the puck looked as though it crossed the line. The goal light came on, but after discussion was ruled no goal. The loss moved Alaska one point ahead of Long Beach in the West Division standings, dropping the Ice Dogs to fourth.
The Ice Dogs will play again next Friday, November 19, when they take on the Fresno Falcons in the first meeting of the season between the two teams. For ticket information, call (562) ICE DOGS or visit www.icedogs.com.
