Ibanez Hits Two Home Runs as Claws Fall 7-2

LAKEWOOD, NJ - Andy Ibanez went 3-4 and hit two home runs to lead Hickory t a 7-2 win over the BlueClaws on Saturday night at FirstEnergy Park, handing Lakewood their fifth straight loss.

The BlueClaws (20-35) got swept in the three-game series by Hickory (32-23). It was the fourth time the BlueClaws have been swept in a series this year.

The Crawdads scored three unearned runs in the first inning, two on a double by Eduard Pinto off BlueClaws starter Jose Taveras. Then Ibanez hit his first of the two home runs in the third, adding his second home run in the fifth.

Taveras (2-4) gave up seven runs/four earned in 4.2 innings of work to take the loss.

The BlueClaws got on the board with two runs in the sixth inning. Emmanuel Marrero's RBI triple and Josh Tobias' RBI single sliced Hickory's lead to 7-2, which would be the final score.

Peter Fairbanks gave up two runs over six innings and improved to 3-2 on the season.

Austin Bossart had two hits in the loss and threw out two potential Crawdad base-stealers.

The BlueClaws are off Sunday and open a three-game series with Lexington (Royals) on Monday night at 7:05. LHP Tyler Gilbert (2-4) starts the series opener for the BlueClaws.
