West Sacramento, Calif. - The River Cats yielded just three runs on Monday at Raley Field, but lost to the visiting I-Cubs, 3-1.

Iowa struck first with a solo shot from prospect first baseman Anthony Rizzo in the top of the first inning. The Cubs scored twice more in the fifth, giving them a 3-0 lead entering the bottom of the fifth, where the River Cats scored their only run on a Luke Hughes RBI double.

River Cats starter Travis Banwart gave up three runs with four strikeouts in six innings pitched for the loss, lowering his ERA to 5.48 on the year. Relievers Jim Miller and Evan Scribner combined on three shutout innings with three strikeouts.

I-Cubs veteran Rodrigo Lopez gave up one run with four strikeouts in five innings for the win. The Iowa bullpen threw four shutout innings with five strikeouts. Left Scott Maine pitched one perfect inning for the save.

Hughes finished 1-for-3 with an RBI and was ejected in the seventh inning for arguing balls and strikes.

The River Cats will try to salvage a series-split during tomorrow's 12:05 game. Sacramento righty Bruce Billings (2-1, 2.22 ERA) will take on I-Cubs starter Randy Wells (2-1, 6.75 ERA) for a Nine Innings at Noon Business Person's Special presented by yp.com at Raley Field on Tuesday.
