Oklahoma City Comets News Release
Oklahoma City, Okla. - The Oklahoma City RedHawks (22-17) crushed a season-high four home runs and finished a four-game sweep of the Tucson Padres (12-26) with a 7-4 win Tuesday afternoon before 8,940 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
Mike Hessman became the second RedHawk this year with a multi-homer game. The first baseman hit a three-run shot in the first inning off the LED board past the left field bleachers to give the RedHawks an early 3-0 edge.
Tucson scored in the second and took the lead with three runs in the third. Sawyer Carroll's two-run single with two outs gave the Padres a 4-3 lead.
Scott Moore ended an 0-for-18 drought with a homer to the Devon Energy Deck in right field in the fourth inning to tie the game.
A day after hitting a walk-off home run, Brad Snyder hit the go-ahead home run off Nick Vincent (0-1) to lead off the sixth inning and put the RedHawks in front 5-4.
Hessman hammered his second homer in the seventh-a two-run shot out to center field to finish the scoring. He now leads the team with seven homers.
Making a spot start, pitcher Sergio Perez lasted just 2.2 innings, but the rest of the bullpen picked him up. Four relievers combined to fire 6.1 scoreless innings, allowing five hits with eight strikeouts.
Mickey Storey (1-2) earned his first win after going 3.1 frames. Jose Valdez earned his eighth save of the season after retiring the side in order in the ninth.
The RedHawks have won five straight and after a day off on Wednesday will start a 12-game road trip Thursday night in Reno at 8:35 p.m. Central Time. Live coverage begins at 8:05 p.m. on 1340 AM The Game, 1340thegame.com, and through the free IHeartRadio app on your mobile device.
