Iowa Cubs News Release

DES MOINES, IA - The Iowa Cubs (44-76) fell to the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (61-58) 3-1 in the completion of last night's suspended contest, but bounced back for a 9-4 victory in the second game, Wednesday at Principal Park.

The I-Cubs and Sky Sox picked up Game 1 in the fifth inning with Colorado Springs leading 1-0. Iowa knotted the game in the eighth on a Ryan Court sacrifice fly, but the Sky Sox had the last laugh. Dillon Maples walked four in the ninth to force in the go-ahead run, before an error by Taylor Davis plated another to solidify the final 3-1 score.

Iowa captured the lead early in Game 2 as Jason Vosler batted in Bijan Rademacher following a leadoff walk. The I-Cubs cracked open the game in the third as they batted around to extend their lead to 6-1. Starter Luke Farrell helped his cause with a leadoff double to spark the six-hit inning. Court, Jason Vosler, Taylor Davis and Chris Gimenez all collected RBI in the frame

Colorado Springs made a comeback attempt in the fifth as the first three batters of the inning reached via a leadoff single and back-to-back walks. Dylan Moore and Nate Orf delivered the blows, each notching an RBI single.

Gimenez rocketed the I-Cubs back to a comfortable lead with a three-run homer in the fifth. It would give Iowa enough cushion to stay in front as the Sky Sox plated two in the sixth for a 9-4 final score.

Iowa and Colorado Springs wrap the homestand tomorrow with a 12:08 p.m. first pitch at Principal Park. For more information or tickets, visit www.iowacubs.com.
