DES MOINES, IA - The Iowa Cubs (37-63) managed a narrow 3-1 victory over the New Orleans Baby Cakes (47-54) to capture a series win, Sunday at Principal Park.

Alec Mills left the game after 6.2 innings with one run allowed off five hits and two walks. He fanned three in a no-decision. New Orleans got its run in the fifth with doubles from Jonathan Rodriguez and Austin Dean in the frame.

Iowa answered with its own run in the bottom of the fifth, sparked by a Mark Zagunis leadoff single. The I-Cubs put a pair of runners on with a David Bote walk, before Ryan Court brought in the tying run with a single.

Court answered the call again in the seventh with his second RBI single and third hit of the day. Court has a 17-game hitting streak - the longest 2018 streak for an I-Cub - with multi-hit games in eight of his last 11 contests.

Taylor Davis helped Iowa add an insurance run in the eighth with a walk to open the frame. Ali Solis, just off the disabled list, punched a single and Jacob Hannemann duplicated the effort to bring in Davis.

From the bullpen, Alberto Baldonado carried Iowa through 1.1 scoreless innings to take the win and improve to 5-1, before Cory Mazzoni closed the game to earn his fourth save of the season.

Hannemann contributed three of Iowa's 12 hits today, while Zagunis and Solis each chipped in two.

Iowa travels to Fresno for a three-game series beginning Tuesday, July 24 with a 9:05 p.m. CT first pitch. Follow the action on AM 940 or www.iowacubs.com.
