From the Notes

Where's Wahl-do?: Yesterday the Oakland A's and the New York Mets completed a trade that included Sounds reliever Bobby Wahl. Along with Wahl, Oakland also sent former Vanderbilt standout Will Toffey and $1 million in international slot bonus money to the Mets in the deal that netted them reliever Jeurys Familia. Wahl was assigned by the Mets to their Triple-A affiliate, the Las Vegas 51's. The Sounds begin a three-game series against the 51's on Tuesday in Sin City. Wahl went 3-2 with a 2.27 ERA in 34 games with the Sounds and led the team with 11 saves. He had a 14.75 K/9 ratio while holding opponents to a .180 batting average.

Getting Louder: Third baseman Sheldon Neuse collected a hit in both games of last night's doubleheader to extend his hitting streak to seven games. In those seven games he is batting .278 (10-for-36) with 4 runs and 2 RBI. His season-long hitting streak is nine games, which he achieved from June 21-July 1. Neuse did not strike out in either of last night's two games marking just the second time this season he did not strike out in back-to-back games. He has not gone three games without a strikeout since July 26-29 with Advanced-A Stockton.

Good Streaks and Bad Streaks: Dean Kiekhefer picked up the win in game two of last night's doubleheader to improve to 6-0 on the season. His six-game winning streak is a career-long and the longest such streak of any Sounds pitcher this season. On the flip side, tonight's starter James Naile has dropped his last four decisions to set a career-long losing streak. Eric Jokisch lost five straight decisions from April 8-May 7, which is the team-high this season.

Shutout Sounds: Nashville threw its eighth shutout of the season last night in game two. The last three shutouts the Sounds have thrown have come against Oklahoma City. They blanked the Dodgers 1-0 at First Tennessee Park on May 26 and then by the same score again in game two of a doubleheader on June 27 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Fresno, Memphis, and New Orleans have also tossed eight shutouts. Only Omaha has thrown more shutouts with nine.
