
Rainiers Clipped By Bees In Extras, 2-1

TACOMA, Wash. - The Tacoma Rainiers (51-49) dropped a 2-1 extra-innings decision to the Salt Lake Bees (53-47) on Saturday night at Cheney Stadium.
Second baseman Gordon Beckham collected the Rainiers only multi-hit performance, going 2-for-4 with a pair of singles and a walk. Designated hitter Mike Zunino went 1-for-3 with an RBI in his second rehab outing. Left fielder Ian Miller (1x4, R), center fielder Andrew Aplin (1x5) third baseman Seth Mejias-Brean (1x4), and Zach Vincej (1x4) all collected hits.
In his second start after a brief disabled list stint, Tacoma right-hander Rob Whalen worked five innings and allowed just one run on four hits. He walked two and struck out seven on 82 pitches (48 strikes).
Dario Alvarez (1.2 IP) and Nick Rumbelow (1.1 IP) both contributed perfect relief outings, allowing not hits or walks while striking out two. Shawn Armstrong (2.0 IP) took the loss after allowing the automatic baserunner to score in the top of the 10th inning.
Tacoma and Salt Lake wrap up their three-game set on Sunday afternoon at 1:35 p.m. PT. Rainiers right-hander Bryan Evans (2-1, 5.56) will match up against Bees righty Osmer Morales (4-3, 6.14).
