Duluth Huskies News Release
La Crosse, Wisconsin - An hour and ten minute rain delay did not stop Duluth from losing their mojo Sunday night, as the Huskies decimated the La Crosse Loggers 12-6 at Copeland Park in La Crosse, WI. Duluth's starting pitcher Will McEntire was able to get the job done once again, picking up his first win of the season and third straight quality start. The Arkansas prodigy went six innings, allowing three runs and punching out four. Ambren Voitik continues to light it up, going two-for-four with two walks and an RBI. Voitik's performance awarded him Northwoods League Player of the Night.Â
Right before the delay began in the top of the third, the Huskies were able to get on the board first thanks to a throwing error from Loggers' catcher Adam Arroyo that scored center fielder Ambren Voitik from third. Many minutes later, Duluth was right back at it with an RBI walk from Blayne Robinson in the top of third. The Loggers picked up their first runs of the game in the bottom half, as second baseman Aidan Sweat took a McEntire cutter over the left field wall to give La Crosse a 3-2 lead.
Three innings later, La Crosse went to lefty Ethan Bradford out of the bullpen, which spelled doom for the Loggers. The Huskies put together five sixth inning runs that saw RBI's from Beau Wimpee, Michael Brooks, and Mike Boeve. Duluth kept the momentum going into the sixth with three more runs, as two of the runs came from a dropped flyball in center field from Seth Stroh. Both teams scored three more runs a piece for the rest of the contest placing the final score at 12-6.
Half one of the eight game road trip is officially over with the second part beginning tomorrow night when the Huskies travel to Mayo Field in Rochester, Minnesota to face the 5-11 Rochester Honkers. The Honkers are currently last in the Great Plains West division, and have the worst record in the Northwoods League excluding the expansion franchise in the Minnesota Mud Puppies.
