
Hurricanes Recall Defenseman Justin Faulk

RALEIGH, NC - Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled defenseman Justin Faulk from the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL). The Hurricanes have assigned forward Zac Dalpe to Charlotte.
Faulk, 19, made his NHL debut with the Hurricanes in the team's season opener on Oct. 7 against Tampa Bay, and has played in three games with the Hurricanes this season, averaging 18:59 of ice time per game. The South St. Paul, MN, native has totaled four goals and two assists (6 points) in 12 games on the AHL level, and is tied for first among Checkers defensemen in goals and points. Faulk (6'0", 205 lbs.) is in his first full professional season after winning the National Collegiate Athletic Association championship with the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs in 2010-11. The Hurricanes drafted Faulk in the second round, 37th overall, in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
Dalpe, 22, has skated in nine games with the Hurricanes this season, averaging 6:07 of ice time per game. The Paris, Ont., native has also played two games for the Checkers on the AHL level, and missed seven NHL games while recovering from a lower-body injury suffered at Buffalo on Oct. 14. Selected by Carolina in the second round, 45th overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Dalpe (6'1", 195 lbs.) has totaled four points (3g, 1a) in 24 career NHL games with the Hurricanes.
