
Hurricanes reassign defenseman Bryan Rodney to River Rats

RALEIGH, NC - Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has reassigned defenseman Bryan Rodney to the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League (AHL). Rodney was recalled to Carolina on Nov. 11, and recorded two assists while averaging 17:51 of ice time per game in five games during his first NHL stint of 2009-10.
Rodney, 25, has scored one goal and earned four assists (5 points) in 14 AHL games with the River Rats this season. The London, Ont., native is in his fifth professional season and his second with the Hurricanes organization after signing with the club as a free agent on May 12, 2008. Rodney (6'0", 195 lbs.) made his NHL debut with Carolina in 2008-09, and earned two assists in eight games with the Hurricanes last season. He has scored nine goals and earned 50 assists (59 points) in 122 career AHL regular-season games with Hartford and Albany.
The River Rats battle Manchester tonight at 7:30 p.m. and then head to Binghamton on Saturday for a 7:05 p.m. match-up with the Senators.
