
Hurricanes Blow Past Wheat Kings Friday

LETHBRIDGE A.B. - The Lethbridge Hurricanes solid goaltending led to a 3-1 win Friday night.
The Hurricanes opened the scoring only 5:43 into the game when Logan Wormald put the puck between the legs of Luke Shipley, fired a shot on Nick Jones who made the first save but Braeden Edwards tapped in the empty net goal off a rebound to make it 1-0 Hurricanes. The Wheat Kings would get the equalizer with 9 minutes remaining with a goal from Calder Anderson at the point assisted by Nate Danielson tying the game up at one after 20.
The Hurricanes got a pair of goals in the second. First it was a shot from Blake Swetlikoff which would go off the pad of Nick Jones and in to make it 2-1 Hurricanes and then during 4 on 4 play Cole Shepard's shot would be stopped by Nick Jones but the rebound on the right side would go to Blake Swetlikoff allowing him to score his 2nd of the period and 2nd of the night to make it 3-1 Hurricanes. The Wheat Kings would have their chances in the second frame but goaltender Bryan Thomson stood tall making some quality blocker saves. Shots on goal 23-17 Wheat Kings after the 2nd period.
The Wheat Kings have never won a game when trailing after 40 minutes on the road. They would get a couple good chances while shorthanded, but Bryan Thomson shut the door to keep it 3-1 Hurricanes which would eventually be the final.
