
Pats Start Strong But Fall to Raiders 6-5

Prince Albert, Sask. - The Regina Pats got off to a strong start but were unable to weather the storm, falling 6-5 to the Prince Albert Raiders on Friday at the Art Hauser Centre.
The Pats led 3-1 after one and 5-4 early in the third period after it was tied 4-4 after two. Connor Bedard finished the game with four points (2G-2A) to reach 50 goals and 100 points in back-to-back seasons. Alexander Suzdalev scored twice to hit 30 goals on the year while Tanner Howe rounded out the scoring for the Pats.
For the Raiders, they get their second straight win coming in comeback fashion. Brayden Dube, Carter Anderson, Ryder Ritchie, Keaton Sorensen, Grady Martin and Aiden Oiring (GWG) scored for Prince Albert while Max Hidlebrand made 32 saves.

THE GOALS
First Period
REG 1-0 at 4:37 - Alexander Suzdalev (29), unassisted // Suzdalev grabbed the loose puck behind the Raiders net, cradled the puck on his stick, and pulled off a lacrosse-style "Michigan" goal to give the Pats an early 1-0 lead.
REG 2-0 at 8:52 - Tanner Howe (25), assisted by Connor Bedard and Stanislav Svozil (PP) // Bedard got the puck at the point and faked a shot, and sent a beautiful pass to Howe who was to the right of Hildebrand and he fired a shot past the Raiders netminder to give the Pats a two-goal lead at 2-0.
PA 2-1 at 12:44 - Brayden Dube (5), assisted by Owen Boucher and Easton Kovacs // Boucher's point shot got through multiple players and through to Dube who was on the doorstep, and he tipped it past Sim to get the Raiders on the board at 2-1.
REG 3-1 at 19:30 - Connor Bedard (49), assisted by Parker Berge and Tye Spencer // Bedard deked and dangled his way below the Raiders' goal line and put the puck off Hildebrand's back and in.
Second Period
PA 3-2 at 3:47 - Carter Anderson (10), assisted by Niall Crocker // Anderson picked up a loose puck in the Pats zone and sent a backhander toward the Pats net and it got by Sim to pull the Raiders back to within one at 3-2.
PA 3-3 at 6:28 - Ryder Ritchie (15), assisted by Aiden Oiring and Landon Kosior (PP) // Ritchie's shot from the top of the right circle beat Sim to tie the game up at 3-3.
PA 3-4 at 7:59 - Keaton Sorenson (19), assisted by Ryder Ritchie and Landon Kosior (PP) // The Raiders broke into the Pats zone unimpeded and Ritchie sent a cross-ice pass to Sorenson, who ripped it past Sim to give the Raiders their first lead of the game at 4-3.
REG 4-4 at 17:01 - Connor Bedard (50), assisted by Tanner Brown and Borya Valis (PP) // Bedard's long shot from high in the slot beat Hildebrand to put the game back on even terms at 4-4, late in the second period.
Third Period
REG 5-4 at 1:30 - Alexander Suzdalev (30), assisted by Stanislav Svozil and Connor Bedard (PP) // After breaking his stick on a previous shot, Suzdalev got himself a new twig and got back into his office. He got the puck in the slot and ripped a wrist shot past Hildebrand to give the Pats a 5-4 lead.
PA 5-5 at 5:19 - Grady Martin (1), assisted by Justin Christiensen and Harrison Lodewyk // Sim stopped the original shot but Martin got behind the Pats' defence and was able to chip the puck past the Pats netminder to tie the game up at 5-5.
PA 5-6 at 9:19 - Aidan Oiring (9), assisted by Sloan Stanick // Sim stopped the original shot but was unable to find the loose puck and with four Pats players in front, Oiring picked up the puck and put it past a down-and-out Sim to give the Raiders the 6-5 lead.

NOTES
Connor Bedard had two goals and two assists to get his 50th goal of the season and 100th point. He is the first Pat' to have back-to-back 50-goal seasons since Mike Sillinger who had 50 in three-straight seasons (1988-89, 1989-90, and 1990-91). He also has 100 points in back-to-back seasons. He leads the WHL in goals (50), points (100), and shots on goal (265). He has 23 goals, 13 assists, and 36 points in 12 games since coming back from the World Juniors.
Tye Spencer picked up an assist and has points in back-to-back games (1G-1A) after missing 19 games with a leg injury.
Borya Valis had an assist and now has points in three-straight games (1G-4A).
Tanner Howe also had a goal and has points in three-straight games (2G-2A).
Stanislav Svozil picked up two assists and has 17 points (17A) in 11 games since returning from the World Juniors.
Alexander Suzdalev scored twice and has 30 on the season. He has 21 points (9G-12A) in his last 12 games.
