Hunter Jones Named Peterborough Petes Players of the Week for the Week Ending December 8

(Peterborough, ON) - The Peterborough Petes are excited to be recognizing deserving local minor hockey players with 'Player of the Week' awards.

Each week the Petes will recognize one of their own players, along with players from the PMHC, PHA, PGHA, and local adaptive hockey organizations. Selected recipients will receive tickets to an upcoming Petes game, social media recognition, a certificate of recognition, and other prizes.

Peterborough Petes Player of the Week: Hunter Jones

Jones leads the Ontario Hockey League with 19 wins following a 3-2 victory against the Western Conference-leading London Knights on December 5 and a 3-1 win against the Kingston Frontenacs on December 7. Jones' stellar play this season earned him an invite to Canada's National Junior Team Selection Camp which is he currently taking part in in Oakville.

Minor Hockey Player of the Week: Cole Cavanagh (PMHC)

Cavanagh is described as a hardworking defenceman for the Atom AAA Petes. His coaches describe his as a reliable and dependable player on the blueline as his permanent smile is loved by his teammates.

Minor Hockey Player of the Week: Owen Schartner (PHA)

Schartner's improvement and willingness to learn has resulted in a strong start to his Minor Peewee AE season. He registered a goal in a 2-2 tie this past weekend and his improved leadership skills on and off the ice have been recognized by his peers, especially during community events.
