Hudson Valley Renegades News Release
Wappingers Falls, NY (7/13/15)- The Hudson Valley Renegades dropped Monday afternoon's series finale to the Batavia Muckdogs by a score of 9-2 at Dutchess Stadium.
A solo home run in the bottom of the second inning by third baseman Alex Schmidt gave the Renegades a 1-0 lead. That lead increased to 2-0 in the bottom of the third inning as first baseman Nic Wilson drove in shortstop Michael Russell on a RBI single. Batavia tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the fourth inning on a two-run home run from catcher Blake Anderson.
The score stayed at 2-2 until the top of the sixth inning when the Muckdogs scored seven runs on eight hits to take a 9-2 lead. The inning was highlighted by a solo home run from center fielder Stone Garrett and a two-run double by Anderson.
Hudson Valley had opportunities in the last three innings to get back into the contest but the Batavia bullpen was strong, stranding five runners in the final three frames. The win went to Batavia reliever Justin Langley (1-0), who struck out two batters in two and a third innings of work. Brandon Koch (0-1) took the loss for the Renegades, allowing six runs in two and a third innings. Benton Moss started for Hudson Valley and struck out six batters over three innings.
Notes: Alex Schmidt had a nice afternoon offensively for Hudson Valley, going three-for-four on the day with a home run and a double. The former University of Washington product now has 11 RBI on the season to go along with his two home runs and five total extra base hits.
The Renegades hit the road for a six-game road trip, starting on Wednesday, July 15th to face the Aberdeen IronBirds. Hudson Valley returns to Dutchess Stadium on Tuesday, July 21st as they host the Williamsport Crosscutters, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05pm. That night is "Home-A-Loan Night" presented by Riverside Bank. Call 845-838-0094, or visit www.hvrenegades.com to purchase your tickets now.
