BURLINGTON, VT --- Seong-min Kim snapped a 2-2 tie with a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Vermont Lake Monsters a 4-2 victory over the West Virginia Black Bears Monday night at historic Centennial Field.

Seth Brown led off the bottom of the eighth with Vermont's sixth walk of the night and one-out later Kim drilled a 2-1 pitch from Sean Keselica into the leftfield bleachers to give Vermont a two-run lead. It was the team-leading third home run of the season for Kim and the league-leading 17th home run for the Lake Monsters, who have also hit 13 home runs in just 15 games at Centennial Field this season.

Neither team could muster much offense over the first five innings as West Virginia starter Seth McGarry held Vermont without a hit until a one-out Trace Loehr single in the fifth inning. Loehr would later score the game's first run on a throwing error before the Black Bears took a 2-1 lead in the sixth on a Ty Moore two-run single off reliever Jared Lyons.

Vermont tied the game 2-2 in the sixth as when Chris Iriart scored from third base on a Johnathan Minier wild pitch after back-to-back one-out walks and a single loaded the bases. The Lake Monsters ended the night with just three hits, while four Vermont pitchers held West Viriginia to four hits and struckout six.

Starter Heath Bowers allowed two hits and struckout three over the first three innings, while Cody Kurz two hitless innings of relief. Evan Manarino (2-1) allowed the first batter he faced in the seventh to reach on an error, but then retired the final nine Black Bear hitters he faced to earn the win.

The win gave the Lake Monsters just their second back-to-back victories of the season (the other June 25-26 at Hudson Valley) and marked the first time since August 2-3, 2014 that Vermont has won two straight games at Centennial Field (a stretch of 27 home games between back-to-back wins).

Vermont (10-13) are off on Tuesday before beginning a six-game roadtrip Wednesday with three games at Tri-City and three at Brooklyn. The Lake Monsters return to Centennial Field to begin a six-game homestand on July 21st.
