WILLIAMSPORT, PA-The Connecticut Tigers (11-12) defeated the Williamsport Crosscutters (17-6) by a final score of 2-1 on Monday night. Connecticut opened the scoring in the third. With one out and centerfielder Victor Padron on first shortstop AJ Simcox singled to put two men on. The next batter was leftfielder Christin Stewart (2-4, 3B, 2 RBI) and he tripled to right field plating both runners giving Connecticut a 2-0 lead.
Williamsport did get within one in the seventh but that was as close as they got. Right fielder Jose Pujols started the inning with a walk and scored on a RBI groundout by catcher Gregori Rivero making 2-1 Tigers.
