Houston Dynamo Announce Protected Player List Ahead of Wednesday's Expansion Draft

HOUSTON (Monday, Dec. 8, 2014) - The Houston Dynamo announced their protected player list today ahead of Wednesday's Expansion Draft for incoming MLS clubs New York City FC and Orlando City SC.

Per league rules, the Dynamo were permitted to protect 11 players who will be exempt from Wednesday's Expansion Draft. The club protected the following players:

* Giles Barnes

* DaMarcus Beasley

* Will Bruin

* Ricardo Clark

* Brad Davis

* Tyler Deric * Boniek Garcia

* Luis Garrido

* Alex Lopez

* Kofi Sarkodie

* Jermaine Taylor

In addition, current Generation adidas members AJ Cochran and Jason Johnson are automatically protected, per league rules, and will be unavailable for selection. Moreover, recent homegrown signing Memo Rodriguez will not be added to the roster until 2015 and is also exempt from the draft.

The following players are unprotected for the draft: Anthony Arena, Corey Ashe, Servando Carrasco, Omar Cummings, David Horst, Samuel Inkoom, Michael Lisch, Brian Ownby, Mark Sherrod and Joe Willis.

The draft will consistent of 10 rounds, with New York City FC and Orlando City SC making 10 total selections each. If a Dynamo player is selected, the club will be able to add an unprotected player to the protected player list. If two Dynamo players are selected, the club will be removed from the draft and will not lose any further players.
