Whitecaps FC Expansion Draft Protected List
December 8, 2014 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Vancouver Whitecaps FC News Release
VANCOUVER, BC - Vancouver Whitecaps FC revealed today the list of 11 players who will be ineligible for selection during the 2014 MLS Expansion Draft on Wednesday, December 10. The draft will be streamed live at 11 a.m. PT on MLSsoccer.com.
In addition, Homegrown players Sam Adekugbe, Marco Bustos, Marco Carducci, Caleb Clarke, Kianz Froese, Ethen Sampson, and Russell Teibert, as well as Generation adidas player Christian Dean are exempt from the draft.
With a total of 19 Whitecaps FC players exempt from selection (11 protected players plus seven Homegrown and one Generation adidas player), nine Whitecaps FC members will be available for selection in the 2014 MLS Expansion Draft.
Orlando City SC and New York City FC will each select 10 players from the other 18 MLS clubs. Once a player has been claimed from a club's non-protected roster, that club may move a player from its non-protected roster to its protected roster.
