Hot stretch earns Robinson Goalie of the Week

Rockford, Ill.- The United Hockey League announced on Monday that Rockford IceHogs goaltender Michel Robinson earned the Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Week for Week 17 of the 2005-06 regular season. The weekly award is the second in Robinson's career as he earned the honor last season after Week 6.

Robinson, along with goalie partner Ronnie Vogel, helped guide Rockford to a perfect 4-0-0 week. The third-year goalie went 2-0-0 with a goals against average of 1.00 and a save percentage of .963. Overall, Robinson has a club-record 13-game unbeaten streak (11-0-2) dating back to Dec. 16.

On Friday, Robinson worked his first shutout of the season, blanking the Quad City Mallards 7-0 making 30 saves. Then on Sunday the reigning UHL Goalie of the Year stopped 22 Missouri River Otters shots to help preserve the IceHogs 4-2 win.

This season, Robinson ranks second in the UHL with a 2.23 goals against average and first with a .928 save percentage. The Hogs goaltender was also honored by the "U" in the month of January with the Southern Sports Supply Goaltender of the Month award. Robinson has a record of 16-5-2 this season and has received six call-ups to the American Hockey League, including last week to the Syracuse Crunch for Wednesday's game against the Chicago Wolves.

Next Home Game: Wednesday, Feb. 15 vs. Fort Wayne Komets. The game is slated to start at 7:05 p.m. The Hogs and Komets renew their divisional rivalry for the third time this season at the MetroCentre. Wednesday night's game is also the final FlyAWay Wednesday game of the year brought to you by the Chicago/Rockford Airport, Allegiant Air and WXRX-FM 104.9.
