Week 17 Recap

The IceHogs began a stretch of 12 games in 19 days on the right foot during Week 17, sweeping the four-game week and setting numerous club records in the process. The most noticeable is the 11-game winning streak that has vaulted the IceHogs into the top spot in the UHL. Rockford has a full week ahead including a home game Wednesday against Fort Wayne and a showdown on Saturday with the Muskegon Fury in Muskegon.

Transactions

-Defenseman Corey Hessler was loaned to the Milwaukee Admirals (AHL) on Friday, Feb. 10.

-Goaltender Jake Pruss was released on Friday, Feb. 10.

-Goaltender Michel Robinson was returned to Rockford from the Syracuse Crunch (AHL) on Thursday, Feb. 9.

-Goaltender Jake Pruss was added as the IceHogs Emergency Backup on Wednesday, Feb. 8.

Bacon Bits:

The IceHogs have won a club-record 11 straight games dating back to Jan. 15. The streak is two shy of the UHL record of 13 set by the Motor City Mechanics.

Rockford also has a club record six-game road winning streak.

IceHogs winger Yannick Tifu has a team season high seven-game point streak. During his hot stretch, the rookie center has 6g-7a-13pts.

Tifu also became the first IceHogs rookie to record multiple hat tricks in a single season when he netted three goals on Saturday against Missouri. Tifu also accomplished the feat on 12/30/05 against Roanoke Valley.

Goaltenders Ronnie Vogel (1-0 over Motor City on 2/8) and Michel Robinson (7-0 over Quad City on 2/10) recorded back-to-back shutouts for the first time in Hogs history.

Rockford has tied a team record, scoring a power-play goal in eight straight games. During the streak, the Hogs are 12-53 (20.3%).

Rookie defenseman Ryan Carrigan set a team record with a plus/minus streak of even or better in 27 straight games. Carrigan is a +19 during the streak.

With their 4-2 win over Missouri on Sunday, Rockford pushed their record to 7-0-1 in the third game of back-to-back-to-back contests this season.

The IceHogs are outscoring the opposition 70-35 in the second period this season. Last year, Rockford scored 74 total goals in the second frame all season.

Hot Hog Week 17:

For the second straight week, rookie center Yannick Tifu is the IceHogs hottest player. The rookie recorded a point in each of the IceHogs four games (3g-5a-8pts) during Week 17 and has a team season high seven-game point streak overall (6g-7a-13pts).

Upcoming Games:

Wednesday, Feb. 15 vs Fort Wayne Komets. The game is slated to start at 7:05 p.m. The Hogs and Komets renew their divisional rivalry for the third time this season at the MetroCentre. Wednesday night's game is also the final FlyAway Wednesday game of the year brought to you by the Chicago/Rockford Airport, Allegiant Air and WXRX-FM 104.9.

Friday, Feb. 17 at Flint Generals. The puck drops at 6:35 p.m. Rockford begins a four game road trip with a tour in Michigan. The swing will start in Flint where the Hogs and Generals meet for the fifth time this season and second at the Perani's Hockey World Arena.

Saturday, Feb. 18 at Muskegon Fury The showdown starts at 6:40 p.m. A much anticipated meeting between the top two clubs in the UHL. Rockford returns to the L.C. Walker Arena for the second time this season and the Hogs will look to avenge a pair of early season losses to the Fury.

Sunday, Feb. 19 at Port Huron Flags. The contest starts at 4 p.m. Another long week comes to an end for the IceHogs when they travel back across Michigan to lower the Flags. Rockford's visit is the second on the season at the McMorran Place Arena and fourth overall between the Hogs and Flags.

The IceHogs Broadcasting Network:

Rockford IceHogs fans can catch all IceHogs Regular and Post Season games on Rockford's Voice, WNTA-AM 1330. Fans can also watch and listen to the Hogs on the World Wide Web with the B2 Networks! Log on to the IceHogs Web site (icehogs.com) and click on the "click here to watch the game live" icon, and for just $6, you can catch all of the IceHogs action on your computer. New to the network this season is ESPN Radio "The Jock" 1380 AM. The Jock will broadcast 20 Hogs games during the regular season. Check your local listings. Also, fans with Insight Cable television can tune in to Channel 57 for all the IceHogs hockey action this season. The broadcast begins with the Pregame Show 20 minutes before the puck drops. Make sure to give your opinion during the 10th Inning Bar and Grill Post-Game Call-In Show following each home game at (815) 874-8255.

Internet Inconvenience:

The Rockford IceHogs would like to extend an apology to all the Hogs fans who have tried to listen or view the broadcast on icehogs.com through the B2 Networks when the team is in Fort Wayne. The Komets have chosen not to adhere to league rules and do not have B2 Network access in the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum at this time. IceHogs fans can catch all the Hogs games, home and away via broadcast and video through the B2 Network on icehogs.com all season, with the exception of the games played in Fort Wayne. The UHL is currently addressing the situation in Fort Wayne and we will let you know if anything changes. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have created.
