Kalamazoo Wings News Release
The K-Wings started their three games in three days on Friday (2/10) with a trip to Fort Wayne, Indiana to battle the Komets. After giving up a goal exactly one minute into the game, the K-Wings stormed back with three unanswered of their own to take a 3-1 lead. In the second period, Fort Wayne fought back with four goals; including the eventual game-winner by Jonathan Goodwin (20) to give the Komets a 5-3 lead. In the final period, the K-Wings attempted a comeback, when Lucas Drake (17) scored his second goal of the game, but it wouldn't be enough, as the K-Wings lost to the Komets 5-4.
On Saturday (2/11), the K-Wings stayed on the road with a game against the Muskegon Fury. Kalamazoo jumped out to a 3-0 first period lead, which included two goals from Brad Church (8, 9) The K-Wings added some more insurance in the second period, when Josh Elzinga scored his fourth goal of the season. Goaltender Joel Martin shut the door on the Fury, stopping all 20 shots he faced, to earn his league-leading 6th shutout of season, as the K-Wings defeated the two-time defending Colonial Cup Champs 4-0.
The Kalamazoo Wings played a Sunday (2/12) matinee contest against the Port Huron Flags. Kalamazoo established UHL franchise records for goals (11) and shots (63) in their 11-3 drubbing of the Flags. Kalamazoo's Mike Manley (14, 15, 16) recorded his first career hat trick, as well as established the K-Wings recorded for most shorthanded goals scored in a season (6). Damian Surma led all K-Wings will points with five (2 goals, 3 assists). Kalamazoo's Dustin Virag scored two goals in the game, including his 100th of his professional career.
Fast Forward
The Kalamazoo Wings will play four games this week starting tomorrow night (2/14), as the K-Wings host the Muskegon Fury during the 6th Annual WKFR and WOTV Pink Ice Game. This will be the second meeting between the teams in a span of four days. The K-Wings, who lead the season series over the Fury with a record of 3-2-1, defeated Muskegon last Saturday by the final of 4-0. Muskegon starts the week a top of the Central Division with a record of 34-8-4 (72 points).
The K-Wings will stay at home for a 7:30 p.m. face-off this Friday (2/17) for a match-up against division rival, the Motor City Mechanics on Disco Fever Night. The K-Wings are 4-1-0 against the Mechanics this season. Motor City starts the week in third place in the Central Division, 16 points behind the K-Wings.
On Saturday (2/18), Kalamazoo will finish off their four-game home stand with a 7:30 p.m. against the Richmond River Dogs on WRKR Mascot Night and Red Robin Night. Saturday's game will be the first and final regular season meeting between the teams. The K-Wings will conclude their week on Sunday (2/19), with a trip to the Moline, Illinois to battle the Quad City Mallards. On the season, the K-Wings are 1-1-0 against the Mallards. The game on Sunday will be the first trip to The Mark of the Quad Cities this year for Kalamazoo.

The K-Wings, who are currently on a three-game home winning streak, haven't had problems scoring during the streak. Kalamazoo has outscored their opponents 23-7 during the winning streak.
Record Breaking Performance
The Kalamazoo Wings set two UHL franchise records during their game last Sunday versus Port Huron. The K-Wings set records for most goals scored (11) and shots on goals (63) during their 11-3 victory over the Flags.
King of the Shorthanders
Forward Mike Manley set a record last Sunday. By scoring his sixth shorthanded goal of the season, Manley set the K-Wings UHL franchise record for most shorthander's scored in a season.
Seventh Heaven
Both Lucas Drake and Jason Deitsch start the week on lengthy point streaks. Both Drake and Deitsch have recorded a point in each of their last seven games.
The Obscure Stat of the Week
The Kalamazoo Wings are one of just three teams in the UHL that have received a point from everybody (including goaltenders) on their active roster. The other two teams in the league that have had production from all their players are Elmira and Rockford.
