Hot Rods Swept at Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, IN - The Bowling Green Hot Rods dropped the series finale to the Fort Wayne TinCaps this afternoon by a score of 3-1. It marks the second time this season that the Hot Rods have been swept and the first time since April 9th-12th at South Bend.

Bowling Green got on the board in the top of the first inning when SS Taylor Walls scored on an RBI triple from DH Ronaldo Hernandez, and it was 1-0 Hot Rods.

The TinCaps were unable to get to Bowling Green starter RHP Austin Franklin through the first three innings, but got on the board in the fourth. A lead off walk came in to score three batters later, and it tied the game at 1-1.

Fort Wayne took the lead for good with a lead off home run in the bottom of the fifth, and added to their lead when they scored on a wild pitch in the seventh.

The Hot Rods outhit the TinCaps 10-8 in this afternoon's contest.

Franklin (5-3, 3.39) took the loss. He threw five and one-third innings, allowing five hits and two runs (both earned), walking three and striking out six.

Bowling Green heads to West Michigan for a four game series tomorrow night. First pitch from Fifth-Third Ballpark is set for 7:05pm. Eastern time.
