CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA - Jordan Devencenzi's 11th-inning sacrifice fly lifted the Beloit Snappers to a 4-3 victory Wednesday against the Cedar Rapids Kernels in front of 3,324 fans at Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Cedar Rapids' season-high-tying six-game win streak was snapped, but the Kernels (6-1, 38-38) still claimed a 2-1 series win over the Snappers (4-3, 36-40).

A pair of first-inning runs gave Cedar Rapids an early 2-0 advantage. Akil Baddoo hit a leadoff triple and scored during a groundout from Jacob Pearson. Jose Miranda followed with a single and later scored on an RBI single by Jean Carlos Arias.

Beloit scored in the second and third innings to pull in front, 3-2. Ryan Gridley singled to drive in Logan Farrar within the second inning. Hunter Hargrove put the Snappers ahead by hitting a two-run home run during the third.

The Kernels walked their way into a 3-3 tie within the seventh. Cedar Rapids took all 21 pitches thrown by Wandisson Charles and drew four consecutive two-out walks. Arias was ruled to have checked his swing on a bases-loaded, full-count pitch that allowed Pearson to come home and even the score.

Cedar Rapids nearly won Wednesday's matinee during the 10th inning. Jovani Moran stranded JaVon Shelby at second base in the top half of the frame. Robby Rinn opened the bottom of the 10th with a groundout that moved Jose Miranda to third. Later in the inning with the bases loaded, Jean Ruiz induced an inning-ending double play that kept the game tied.

The Snappers secured their 4-3 win in the 11th. A balk early in the frame allowed Trace Loehr to reach third base. Devencenzi batted with one out and runners at the corners, and he hit a sacrifice fly against Calvin Faucher that brought in Loehr. Cedar Rapids went down in order in its half of the inning.

Ruiz (1-6) earned his first victory of the year after tossing two scoreless and hitless innings of relief. Faucher (2-3) allowed an unearned run and was tagged with his third extra-inning loss this season.

Up next, the Kernels open a six-game road swing by visiting the Burlington Bees for a four-game series. First pitch Thursday is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., and right-hander Bailey Ober (3-1, 5.16) will start for the Kernels. Coverage of Thursday's contest will be broadcast on 1450 KMRY AM and 93.1 KMRY FM and also online at www.kmryradio.com and www.kernels.com.
