Dayton Dragons News Release

Dayton, Ohio-Dayton's Andy Sugilio hit a home run and drove in three run while Hunter Greene fired six strong innings as the Dragons defeated the Great Lakes Loons 11-1 on Wednesday night. The Dragons completed a sweep of the three-game series with the win before a crowd of 7,908 at Fifth Third Field.

The Dragons 10-run victory margin was their largest of the season. Their 11-run scoring total eclipsed their total number of runs scored in any of the three previous series, each of which featured at least three games.

The Dragons took command of the game with five runs in the third inning to take a 5-0 lead. Sugilio blasted a long two-run home run in the inning that traveled 403 feet to right field. Alejo Lopez and John Sansone each added a run-scoring double in the inning.

The Dragons tacked on five more runs in the fourth, keyed by a two-run triple by Jose Garcia, as they increased their lead to 10-0. Sugilio also had a run-scoring single in the inning. The Dragons reached double-figures in hits before the end of the fourth inning.

Each team scored one run in the fifth inning. The Dragons run came on a home run by Hendrik Clementina, his 10th of the year and his first since May 21st.

Dragons starting pitcher Hunter Greene (2-6) extended his string of consecutive starts allowing two earned runs or less to seven. He earned the win, working six innings and allowing one run on three hits with two walks and seven strikeouts. Greene's earned run average over his last seven starts is an outstanding 2.23. Austin Orewiler fired three scoreless innings for his first save.

The Dragons finished with 13 hits. Their hit total was their highest since they had 19 hits in a game on May 20th. Their run total marked the first time they had scored more than four runs in a game since June 6. They had gone 17 straight games scoring four or fewer.

Sugilio led the attack, going 3 for 5 with a home run and three runs batted in. It was Sugilio's fifth straight multi-hit game. Garcia had two hits and three RBI. Alejo Lopez and Raul Wallace also had two hits. The Dragons were 6 for 13 with runners in scoring position.
