About Yesterday.. The Hot Rods avoided a sweep at the hands of the Lake County Captains with a 10-0 shutout win on Monday afternoon in the finale of a three-game set at Bowling Green Ballpark. While Caleb Sampen hurled six innings of shutout ball while holding LC to just two hits, it was Chris Betts stealing the show. Erik Ostberg added three hits of his own while Grant Witherspoon had two doubles in a 2-for-4 effort with three RBIs. Five Hot Rods had a multi-hit games while the team banged out 14-total hits in the game, snapping a two-game skid in the process while Lake County was held to three hits in the shutout.

Chasing History... Chris Betts hit his 17th home run of the season on Monday and is the active HR leading in the Midwest League heading into Tuesday's game and one behind former Lake County Captain Will Benson's total of 18 (he's since been promoted to A+ Lynchburg). The homer moves Betts into a tie for fourth with Phillip Wunderlich (2011) for the fourth-most homers in a single season in Hot Rods franchise history. Tradewinds Are Blowing... With the MLB trade deadline just one day away, teams have been actively dealing, with the Hot Rods adding a player as result. Tampa Bay and Cleveland agreed to a deal Sunday, sending infielder Christian Arroyo and former Hot Rods pitcher Hunter Wood to the Indians. In exchange, the Rays received outfielder Ruben Cardenas, formerly of the Lake County Captains, who was added to the Bowling Green roster this morning. Cardenas batted .284 in 84 games for Lake County, swatting ten home runs with 54 RBI. In a corresponding move, outfielder Izzy Wilson was promoted to Class A+ Charlotte.

Big Ost... Erik Ostberg continued his strong start since arriving in Bowling Green with three more hits on Monday. Despite missing the first half of the season due to injury, Ostberg arrived in midseason form and carries a .433 batting average through nine games into Tuesday's series opener with Dayton. The catcher/first baseman has a homer to go along with five runs, five RBIs, four walks, and an OBP of .514.

Aranda Back at it Again... Jonathan Aranda has yet another long hit streak in 2019 and is the only Hot Rod to have a batting average over .300.
