Clinton LumberKings News Release

CLINTON, IA - The Clinton LumberKings, in conjunction with the Miami Marlins, have announced the promotion of outfielder Connor Scott to the High-A Jupiter Hammerheads. In a corresponding move the LumberKings received outfielder, and 2019 competitive balancing round pick, Kameron Misner.

Scott, 19, was with the LumberKings since Opening Day and was the Marlins first round pick in the 2018 MLB Draft. As the just about everyday center fielder for the LumberKings over his time in Clinton, Scott was coming off an impressive 16 game hitting streak that ran from July 7th through the 26th. At the time of his promotion he led the team in doubles, 24, hits, 95, and stolen bases, 21. On May 18th, he was batting just .193 but went on a tear over his final 10-weeks in the Midwest League to raise his average to .251.

Misner, 21, was selected by the Miami Marlins in the 2019 MLB Draft out of the University of Missouri in the Competitive Balancing Round (35th overall). He began his professional career with the GCL Marlins on July 21st and played eight games with them before being promoted to the Clinton LumberKings. A Poplar Bluff, Missouri native he was originally drafted by the Kansas City Royals out of high school in 2016 in the 33rd round but did not sign - instead electing to play college baseball at the University of Missouri.

The LumberKings will face the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers for the opener of a four-game set on Tuesday night. Clinton will throw righty Tanner Andrews (4-4, 3.93) while Wisconsin will tap righty Fresis Adames (2-1, 3.11). First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. (CDT). Fans looking to listen to the game can hear Erik Oas with the pregame show on 6:20 p.m. with the pregame show on 100.3 FM WCCI and online at lumberkings.com via the tunein radio app.
