Quad Cities River Bandits News Release

Davenport, IA - The Quad Cities River Bandits snapped a three-game skid by picking up a 4-1 win over the Burlington Bees on Tuesday night at Modern Woodmen Park. Oscar Campos collected two big hits and the River Bandits pitching staff worked out of countless jams to get back in the win column.

Quad Cities (20-17, 63-40) had stranded three baserunners over their first three trips to the plate before finally getting on the board in the bottom of the fourth. With one out, Freudis Nova and Grae Kessinger tallied back-to-back singles off of Bees starter Kyle Tyler. The bases would then become loaded when Trey Dawson worked a walk. Campos jumped on a first pitch fastball and lined it into right field to score a pair and put the Bandits in front 2-0.

Burlington (15-22, 54-53) also missed out on numerous early opportunities to do damage. The Bees left a runner at third base in each of the first three innings against Bandits pitcher Abdiel Saldana. They finally broke through with their only run in the top of the fifth. Harrison Wenson put himself into scoring position by leading off with a double and Ryan Vega followed with a single to place runners on the corners. A sacrifice fly by Connor Fitzsimons drove in Wenson and cut the lead in half. Saldana ended up allowing just that run in 6.0 innings to collect his first win.

The River Bandits chased Tyler after just 4.0 innings, scoring two runs on five hits, to hand him his first loss of the campaign. They would add some insurance against the bullpen in the sixth and seventh innings as well. With Kessinger at third base and one out, Campos ambushed a breaking ball on the first pitch of his at bat and hooked it to left field for his third run batted in and a 3-1 advantage. Dawson followed up a Cesar Salazar double with an RBI single in the seventh to reach the final margin.

Brett Daniels earned his second save of the year by working 3.0 scoreless innings with six strikeouts. The right-hander lowered his earned run average to 1.64.

The River Bandits ten hit attack was led by four different players that collected two hits each. Alex McKenna, Nova, Kessinger and Campos all went 2-4 with either an RBI or run scored. Three-hitter Adrian Rondon paced Burlington with two hits of his own.

Game two of the series, the final one in Davenport, is set for 6:35 p.m. on Wednesday night. The Bandits will hand the ball to RHP Jose Bravo (1-4, 4.65) and the Bees will counter with RHP Luis Alvarado (4-6, 3.08). Admission to the game is FREE for all fans.

All River Bandits games are broadcast on 1170 K-BOB and TuneIn Radio. Home games are also available with video on MiLB.TV.
