Salisbury, MD - The Delmarva Shorebirds continued their rough patch with an 8-5 loss in the series finale to the Greensboro Grasshoppers. Luis Gonzalez finally ran into some trouble as a four-run sixth inning did the Shorebirds in on Tuesday evening.

Gonzalez came into the contest having tossed 20 1/3 consecutive innings without a run allowed. The night started well with Delmarva taking a 4-0 lead in the second. A throwing error by Brian Anderson helped four unearned runs score. Anthony Caronia sliced a two-run double, while Gregory Lorenzo belted a two-run triple.

The streak ended in the third inning with a two-out bases-clearing double by Brian Anderson. Gonzalez hurled 23 consecutive scoreless innings in total between July 9th and Tuesday night. The left-hander got into more trouble as he loaded the bases in the sixth. Williams Louico allowed all three inherited runners to score to give Greensboro their first lead of the game. Louico balked and then an infield chopper tied the game. J.T. Riddle's RBI single put the Hoppers on top, 6-5.

Tyler Kinley locked down his second save of the series, and ninth of the season. C.J. Robinson earned the win for Greensboro, improving to 6-4. Luis Gonzalez suffered his first loss as a Shorebird, marring his perfect record, now at 6-1.

The Shorebirds will have a day off before travelling to Lakewood, New Jersey for five games in four days. Left-hander Mitch Horacek (5-10, 3.95) will start the opener against Lakewood righty Jon Prosinski (4-4, 4.46). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm at FirstEnergy Park on Thursday evening.
