Delmarva Shorebirds News Release

Salisbury, MD - The Delmarva Shorebirds have rescheduled their annual Float for the Fund Night for Sunday, August 24th. The previous date, Sunday, August 3rd, rained out at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. On Float for the Fund Night, fans can purchase unlimited root beer floats for just $5 thanks to Mug Root Beer and Georgeo's Italian Ice.

The new date for Float for the Fund will be on Sunday, August 24th. The Shorebirds will face off against the Asheville Tourists with first pitch scheduled for 5:05 pm at Perdue Stadium.

The proceeds from Float for the Fund Night benefit the Delmarva Shorebirds Community Fund. The Delmarva Shorebirds Community Fund holds several fundraising events throughout the year and one of the signature and fan favorites is Float for the Fund Night. The Float for the Fund was first held in 2009, and thanks to donations from Georgeo's and Mug Root Beer, the event has raised an average of over $2,800 for the Community Fund on an annual basis.

During the game, fans have a chance to purchase commemorative Shorebirds mugs that traditionally have featured photos of current Shorebirds players. The fans then have their mugs filled with Mug Root Beer and Georgeo's ice cream by local celebrities who volunteered their time to help support the event. The fans can continue to get refills throughout the game for no additional cost.

Those fans who purchased tickets for the postponed game on Sunday, August 3rd can exchange their tickets for any remaining 2014 Shorebirds home game, including Float for the Fund Night. Those fans who received tickets through their local libraries as a part of Summer Reading Night, sponsored by College Savings Plans of Maryland, can also redeem those tickets for Float for the Fund Night or any other remaining home game.
