LAKEWOOD, NJ - Kyle Freeland, the 8th overall pick in the 2014 draft making his South Atlantic League debut, threw five scoreless innings for Asheville in topping the BlueClaws 7-1 on Tuesday night at FirstEnergy Park.

Freeland, who was added to the roster earlier in the day, struck out six in earning his second professional victory in giving Asheville (33-13/74-41) two of three in the series from the BlueClaws (18-27/45-69).

Asheville scored twice in the 5th inning, getting the game's first run on a ground-out by Emerson Jimenez and taking a 2-0 lead on an RBI single from Raimel Tapia.

BlueClaws starter Yoel Mecias (2-1) took the loss allowing two runs in five innings on just three hits. Mecias, the Phillies 24th ranked prospect per Baseball America, has allowed four runs in 20 innings over four starts with the BlueClaws this year.

The Tourists added five runs in the 8th inning off Dan Child (four) and Julio Reyes (one unearned run), which featured a two-run triple by Ryan McMahon.

Willians Astudillo had two hits for the BlueClaws, his fourth straight multi-hit game.

After an off-day on Wednesday, the BlueClaws open a five-game four-day series with Delmarva on Thursday night. RHP Jon Prosinski (4-4) starts for Lakewood opposite LHP Mitch Horacek (5-10). The teams will play a double-header on Friday that begins at 5:05.
