GREENSBORO, N.C. - Greensboro hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the 9th to crawl back within one run of Lakewood, but the BlueClaws hung on for the 4-3 victory Saturday night.

The BlueClaws led 4-1 entering the bottom of the 9th inning with Mike Nesseth on the mound, but Nesseth was able to induce a game-ending double play with the winning run at the plate. The victory snapped a 16-game home winning streak for Greensboro which had not lost a game at NewBridge Bank Park since April 10th.

The BlueClaws used a four-run 4th inning to score all the runs they would need for the win. With the bases loaded and one out, Kyrell Hudson walked which scored Brian Pointer who reached on an error. Carlos Perdomo then singled to centerfield which score two runs and sent Hudson from first to third base.

The throw sailed over the head of Greensboro catcher Wilfredo Gimenez and caromed off the brick backstop behind home plate. When Hudson saw the ball ricochet away, he broke from third base to score and give Lakewood a 4-0 lead.

Starting pitcher Colin Kleven tossed five innings of one-run ball for his third win of the season and evened his record at 3-3. He left the ballgame leading 4-1 with the only run he allowed being a lead-off homer in the 5th inning to Greensboro's third baseman Josh Adams.

The BlueClaws and Grasshoppers will battle Sunday at NewBridge Bank Park in the final game of the four-game series. A pair of lefties will go to the mound with Lino Martinez (2-2, 6.86) starting for Lakewood against Greensboro's Adam Conley (4-0, 2.40). Sunday will be the fourth time the BlueClaws have faced Conley this season (First three starts against Lakewood: 1-0, 0.95 ERA -- 19.0 IP, 10 H, 5 R (2 ER), 21 K) First pitch for Sunday's game is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
