STAT OF THE DAY: After 21 home games, a total of 73,436 fans have come to Perdue Stadium. Last year, only 51,398 fans came to the first 21 games. An average of 1,049 more fans have come to the first 21 games of this season.
PREVIEW: The Shorebirds squandered a 4-1 lead after seven and lost 5-4 in game two last night. Caleb Ramsey hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning off Matt Taylor to tie the game and Jason Martinson hit a bottom of the ninth single to win it for the Suns. The Shorebirds have lost six of their last eight games and are now 12 games out of first with 31 to go.
FIVE HOMERS IN TWO GAMES: The Shorebirds have hit five homers in the first two games of this series. They hit three total home runs in the first 14 games of May.
19-GAME ON BASE STREAK: Jason Esposito takes a 19-game on-base streak into game three of the road trip. The last time he didn't reach base was on April 26. During the stretch, Esposito is batting .301 (22-73) with ten RBIs. He has hit safely in 14 of the 19 games.
8-GAME HIT STREAK: Glynn Davis takes an 8-game hit streak into game one against Hagerstown (11-for-34, .323). Davis has reached base in 14 straight games. Davis' .272 batting average is the highest his average has been since April 30 (.277).
BACK-TO-BACK DAYS FOR WEBB: Brenden Webb has three home runs in his last nine games and homers in both games of the current series. Webb now leads the Shorebirds with four home runs. Since the beginning of May (.205), Webb's batting average has jumped 55 points to .260. His slugging percentage has increased by 96 points since the beginning of May (.384 to .480).
KYLE HOPPY CONTINUES TO IMPRESS: In two games with the Shorebirds, Kyle Hoppy has four hits, three runs scored, a home run and three RBIs. He went 2-for-4 yesterday. The multi-RBI game on Thursday was just the fourth of his career.
8TH IN EXTRA BASE HITS: Brenden Webb ranks tied for eighth in the SAL with 17 extra base hits (10 2B, 3 3B, 4 HR).
LINO?: Gabriel Lino is 0-for-9 in this series and 1-for-20 in his last five games.
DALLES REACHING BASE: Justin Dalles takes a 15-game on-base streak into game three against the Suns. He has reached base in every game played this year. Dalles has ten walks in 15 games played. He walked just three times in 27 games played last season.
