Corpus Christi Hooks News Release
CORPUS CHRISTI - Ross Adolph and Corey Julks hit back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the ninth inning against the Frisco RoughRiders to surge to a 5-4 walk-off Hooks win Thursday at Whataburger Field.
Both shots came off Stephen Villines with one out to spare in the ballgame.
The Hooks never led in the game until Julks' walk-off, which was the second last at-bat win for Corpus Christi in the series following Scott Manea's ninth-inning single on Tuesday. In fact, Corpus Christi was held scoreless until the eighth inning.
In the eighth, Joe Perez hit an RBI double off the right field wall and Norel Gonzalez added an RBI single to make it 4-2.
Frisco, much like Wednesday in its 4-3 win over the Hooks, needed little production to score its four runs. Two scored via wild pitches - one each from Parker Mushinski and Brandon Lawson. The others scored on a Anderson Tejeda RBI single and a Matt Whatley sacrifice fly.
Mushinksi exited the game after just three batters due to an apparent injury. Lawson came in for 5.2 innings, scattering six hits and three runs. Felipe Tejada (W, 3-1) fired 3.0 scoreless frames.
The series continues Friday with Cesar Rosado on the mound. The first 2,000 fans in attendance will receive a Hooks Big CC Jersey, courtesy of CITGO.
