Asheville Tourists News Release

Asheville, NC-- Asheville returned home to a raucous crowd on Monday night and bid farewell to their three game losing streak. The Tourists defeated the Lexington Legends 10 -3 to open up a brief three-game homestand.

It all started early for the home team. Asheville plated five runs in the bottom of the first inning on six hits. They sent ten batters to the plate against the Legends starter Cody Reed. Correlle Prime and Wilfredo Rodriguez each had RBI doubles while Jordan Patterson chipped in with an RBI single.

After Lexington managed one in the top of the third, the Tourists answered with two in the bottom half. Max White doubled of the right field wall and later scored on Raimel Tapia's RBI single.

The Tourists made it 10-1 with a two out rally in the sixth. Ryan McMahon doubled to right- center and Prime followed with a double to deep centerfield. The next batter, Patterson, connected with a two-run Home Run down the left field line.

The Legends plated a pair of runs in the seventh; one earned and the other unearned, but that was all the visitors would muster. Zach Jemiola was sensational in picking up his fourth win of the season. The Tourists starting pitcher went seven innings, only allowed two earned runs, and notched a season-high eight strikeouts. All nine Tourists hitters had at least one base hit.

Asheville and Lexington face off again on Tuesday night at 7:05pm.
