GreenJackets Lose Series Opener to Sand Gnats, 2-0

Augusta, GA--The Augusta GreenJackets (24-26) lost the first game of their series against the Savannah Sand Gnats (34-15) on Monday night, at Lake Olmstead Stadium. In eight innings, the Sand Gnats won 2-0.

Despite receiving the loss, GreensJackets starting pitcher Luis Ysla (2-3), pitched a decent game against the South SAL Division leaders. In six innings, Ysla gave up four hits, one run and struck out three.

Jeff McNeil of the Sand Gnats scored both runs for the team.

The Sand Gnats scored in the top of the sixth. After a bunt and single placed Jeff McNeil on second, Jorge Rivero doubled to left field allowing McNeil to plate the run.

The final run of the night was earned in the top of the eighth. After McNeil singled up the middle, L.J. Mazzilli tripled to right field and McNeil scored.

The GreenJackets had just three hits in the game. They went 0-2 with runners in scoring position. The team left a runner on third with a strike out and line drive to first.

The GreenJackets continue their series against Savannah on Tuesday, May 27th at 7 pm. It's SweetWater Brewery Two for Tuesday, fans can enjoy two-for-one pricing on soft drinks and draft beers throughout the ballpark. It's Salute to Teachers Night at the ballpark.
