Holtby Returns, Krahn and Crooks Reassigned
September 25, 2008 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Saskatoon Blades News Release
The Saskatoon Blades have announced numerous roster changes on Thursday afternoon. Veteran goaltender Braden Holtby has been returned to the team from the Washington Capitals while Matthew Krahn and Jamie Crooks have both been reassigned.
Krahn, a 17 year old goaltender from Winnipeg, MB, played 20 minutes in the Blades home opening game where he allowed 4 goals on 15 shots. Matthew has been reassigned to the Portage Terriers of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.
Crooks, a 16 year old forward from Vermillion, AB, appeared in both of the Blades 2 games this season but did not record a point. Jamie is an original Blades draft pick from the 9th round (181st overall) of the 2007 WHL Bantam Draft and has been reassigned to the Midget AAA Lloydminster Bobcats.
Meanwhile the team is pleased to welcome back 19 year old goaltender Braden Holtby to their roster. The veteran netminder has been away since mid-September to attend the Capitals training camp and returned to Saskatoon late on Wednesday night. Holtby, along with Teigan Zahn, are both expected to be in the line-up this weekend during the team's home and home series with the Swift Current Broncos.
Today's moves leave the team with 24 players (14 forwards, 8 defenseman, 2 goalies) not including defenseman Jyri Niemi, who is still attending the New York Islanders training camp.
Saskatoon's next game will be in Swift Current on Friday night before returning to Credit Union Centre on Saturday to once again face off against the Broncos. Tickets are available via ticketmaster.ca or by calling 938-7800.
