Hobson called up to AHL Rockford

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that forward Adam Hobson has been reassigned to the Rockford Ice Hogs of the American Hockey League by the Chicago Blackhawks of the NHL.

Hobson has appeared in six gameS this season since being reassigned to the Gladiators from the Fresno Falcons on December 28th. He has posted 2 goals and 3 assists for Gwinnett for 5 points and is a +5. He tied a career high with 4 points for the Gladiators in a 5-4 shootout win over South Carolina on January 8th.

The Mission, BC native split time last year during his rookie season with the Pensacola Ice Pilots and the Rockford Ice Hogs of the American Hockey League. He had 10 goals and 5 assists for 15 points in 24 games least season with Pensacola. He skated in 25 games with the Ice Hogs notching a goal and 4 assists.

Hobson was selected in the 7th round of the 2005 NHL draft by the Chicago Blackhawks with the 203rd overall pick.

Gwinnett gets a chance for revenge as it continues action January 17th, against the Florida Everblades. The game is the annual Teddy Bear Toss.

Began in 1988-89 with five teams playing in four states, the Premier 'AA' Hockey League has grown into a coast-to-coast league that will have 21 teams in 16 states and British Columbia playing 864 games from Oct. 17, 2008 to Apr. 4, 2009. Eighteen of the 23 teams have played at least five years in their current city.

The third-longest tenured professional hockey league behind only the National Hockey League and the American Hockey League, the ECHL averaged 4,174 per game last season, marking the fourth year in row and the 16th time in the last 18 years that the league has averaged over 4,000 fans. The league has drawn over four million fans each of the last five years and 11 times in the past 12 seasons.
