STOCKTON, Calif. - Right wing Troy Bodie, who played in 46 games for the Stockton Thunder in 2006-07, made his National Hockey League debut with the Anaheim Ducks tonight against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Originally selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the ninth round (278th overall) in 2003 National Hockey League Entry Draft and in his third full season as a professional, the 23-year old Bodie was signed by the Ducks as a free agent on Jul. 22, 2008 and previously skated in 40 games for the Iowa Chops of the American Hockey League this season, scoring 12 points (6g-6a) and adding 71 penalty minutes.

The 6-foot-4, 219-pound forward skated in 46 games for the Thunder in 2006-07, ranking second on the club with 21 goals while amassing 38 points (21g-17a) and 80 penalty minutes. Bodie added two assists in six Kelly Cup Playoff games and represented the Thunder in the 2007 ECHL All-Star Game in Boise, Idaho.

Bodie is the fourth former Thunder player to play in the NHL, joining center Tim Sestito (debuted with Oilers vs. Los Angeles on Nov. 26, 2008), Edmonton left wing Liam Reddox (vs. St. Louis on Dec. 7, 2007) and defenseman Bryan Young (debuted with Oilers at Anaheim on Mar. 9, 2007).

For the third consecutive season, Stockton is serving as the AA minor-league affiliate for the Oilers. The Thunder has clinched back-to-back appearances in the Kelly Cup Playoffs since the affiliation partnership began in the 2006-07 season. In total, seven Thunder players, including two who have been selected in the first round of the NHL Entry Draft, have been named to play in the ECHL All-Star Game in the last three years while in the Oilers farm system.

The proud ECHL affiliate of the Oilers and the American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons, the Thunder was voted "Best Local Sports Team" by readers of San Joaquin Magazine, has led the ECHL in attendance for three consecutive seasons and drew 239,337 fans to Stockton Arena in 2007-08.
