Calgary Hitmen News Release
Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen General Manager and Head Coach Kelly Kisio today announced the team was involved in three separate trades.
The Hitmen have acquired 19 year-old defenceman Dan Mercer from the Spokane Chiefs in exchange for 18 year-old forward/defenceman Curtis Kelner.
Calgary has also added 19 year-old defenceman Ryan Gillen from Tri-City in exchange for a seventh round pick in the 2008 WHL Bantam Draft.
In addition, the Hitmen have acquired a fifth round pick in the 2007 WHL Bantam Draft from the Moose Jaw Warriors in exchange for 19 year-old defenceman Michael Hengen.
"The addition of both Mercer and Gillen adds some grit and physical presence to our back end," said Kisio.
Mercer and Gillen are both expected to be in the line-up tomorrow night when the Hitmen host the Red Deer Rebels. Puck drops at 7 p.m. in Pengrowth Saddledome. For tickets call Ticketmaster 777-0000.
