Calgary Hitmen News Release

Saskatoon, SK - The Calgary Hitmen finished their Eastern Division swing tonight at the SaskTel Centre tonight facing off against the Saskatoon Blades.

Stellar goaltending on both sides was the catalyst of a close game tonight, with Calgary falling to Saskatoon in a 2-0 result. A power play goal from Egor Sidorov of Saskatoon at 10:39 in the first period would prove to be the lone goal of the game right up until the end of regulation. There were no lack of grade A chances for the Calgary Hitmen, testing goaltender Austin Elliot right up to the last whistle, registering 31 shots, outshooting the home team by four. With Calgary netminder Ethan Buenaventura on the bench, Vaughn Watterodt was able to find the empty net with under 20 seconds remaining to secure the win for Saskatoon.

Ethan Buenaventura was outstanding in net making 25 saves in tonight's contest. Among his many highlights was a shorthanded breakaway save off of Rowan Calvert in the final five minutes keeping Calgary in reach. Buenaventura's performance earned him second star.

Calgary has one more road stop in Lethbridge on Oct. 18 before finally returning to Scotiabank Saddledome on Friday, Oct. 20 to host the defending WHL Champion Seattle Thunderbirds in a 7:00 p.m. start.
