Tri-City Americans News Release

Americans vs Wheat Kings

Saturday, October 14 | Kennewick, WA | Toyota Center

Start Time: 6:05 p.m. PDT

The Americans will look to bounce back tonight at the Toyota Center as they take on the Kamloops Blazers after falling 5-2 last night against Brandon.

Calgary Flames prospect Parker Bell made his return to the Americans last night after being reassigned by the AHL's Wranglers. Bell made an impact early as he tallied primary assists on two goals for the Ams in the first period. The game went south for Tri-City as the Wheat Kings scored five straight goals, handing the Ams their first home loss of the season.

Lukas Matecha played in net for Tri-City, turning aside 22 of 26 shots faced. The 6-foot-4 and 195-pound netminder had allowed just one goal in his two prior games. Matecha, a native of Czech Republic, was selected in the 2nd round (99th overal) in the 2023 CHL Import Draft by the Americans.

Tonight will be the first match up of the season between the Ams and the Blazers. Tri-City went 1-2-1-0 against the conference finalist Blazers last season. Kamloops also lost last night, falling 4-1 in Portland.
