
Hitmen Announce 2016-17 WHL Regular Season Schedule

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen today unveiled their 2016-17 Western Hockey League regular season schedule. The Hitmen will begin their 22nd season by hosting the Kootenay ICE in their home opener on Friday, September 23 at the Scotiabank Saddledome at 7:00 p.m. The Hitmen will then make the return trip to Cranbrook the following night.
The 72-game schedule will see Calgary play Central Division rivals Kootenay and Red Deer seven times each while facing Edmonton, Medicine Hat and Lethbridge six times.
Of the 36 Hitmen home games, 28 will be played on the weekend with the following breakdown: Friday (11), Saturday (7) and Sunday (10).
Calgary will have a pair of season-high four-game homestands beginning January 14-20 when the Hitmen host Prince George, Lethbridge, Red Deer and Victoria. The second runs February 17-24 when Edmonton, Saskatoon, Brandon and Medicine Hat visit the Scotiabank Saddledome.
The schedule also features a season-high six-game road trip with stops in Seattle, Portland, Everett, Tri-City, Spokane and Kootenay from November 11-19.
Hitmen home games played Monday through Saturday will have a 7:00 p.m. puck drop with four exceptions;
* 4:00 p.m. Thanksgiving Day game on Monday, October 10 versus Vancouver
* 2:00 p.m. puck drop for the 22nd annual Teddy Bear Toss on Saturday, November 26 against Lethbridge
* 4:00 p.m. start on Monday, January 2 versus Vancouver
* 11:00 a.m. School Day contest on Wednesday, February 22 against Brandon.
Sunday games will begin at 4:00 p.m., with two exceptions;
* 2:00 p.m. start on Sunday, October 16 versus Moose Jaw
* 2:00 p.m. puck drop on Sunday, December 18 against Kootenay.
All Hitmen home and away games will be broadcast live on Sportsnet 960 - The Fan or online at Sportsnet.ca/960.
In advance of the 2016 Hitmen Training Camp, which begins Friday August 26, individual game day tickets will go on sale Wednesday, August 24 at 10:00 a.m. at all Ticketmaster locations and the Scotiabank Saddledome box office. This includes tickets to the Hitmen pre-season game at the "Dome against the Edmonton Oil Kings on Saturday September 10 for $5 (plus applicable fees). Fans can also order online at Ticketmaster.ca or by phone at 1-855-985-5000.
Calgary Hitmen season tickets for the 2016-17 campaign are available now at the Scotiabank Saddledome box office or by calling 403-777-4646. Packages include complimentary tickets to the first two Hitmen home playoff games along with game day savings vouchers for concessions, tickets and merchandise. They also feature a flexible exchange program where all unused Hitmen regular season tickets can be exchanged for another game during the same season.
