
Cougars Release 2016-17 Schedule

Prince George Cougars News Release
Prince George, B.C. - Earlier today the Western Hockey League officially released the 2016-17 regular season schedule and the Prince George Cougars will kick off their 23rd season in the Western Hockey League with a four game road trip starting on Friday, September 23rd in Victoria against the Royals.
One week later on Friday, September 30th the Cougars will take the ice at the CN Centre for their home opener against the Kelowna Rockets. The Two BC Division rivals will also meet the next night marking the first of 13 double-headers that will take place in Prince George, eight of which fall on weekends.
Some important dates to consider:
Monday, November 7th: Game 1 of the Canada Russia Series. All 2016-17 Season Members have tickets to the Canada Russia Series game included in their purchase.
Wednesday, December 7th: The 2016 Ed Chynoweth Cup champions, the Brandon Wheat Kings come to town for their lone game with the Cougars. This year fans also have the chance to see the five Saskatchewan-based teams (Saskatoon, Regina, Moose Jaw, Prince Albert, Swift Current) live in Prince George for the first time since 2014-15.
Friday, December 9th and 10th: The Cougars are hosting a weekend double-header with their 2016 WHL Playoff Rivals and Western Conference champions, the Seattle Thunderbirds. That weekend will also feature the Cougars annual Teddy Bear Toss game which goes Saturday, December 10th.
Overall, 11 of the Cougars 36 regular season home games fall on a Friday, 10 on a Saturday, eight on a Tuesday, six on a Wednesday and one will be played on Monday, February 13th - A Family Day afternoon game against the Spokane Chiefs.
"Both on and off the ice we feel like we are building something very special in Northern British Columbia, and our staff have been working tirelessly to make sure that the 2016-17 season is a game changer," said Cougars Vice President, Business Andy Beesley. "From Day 1 we committed to our fans that we would always strive to set the bar higher, and we are very excited for all that is to come both on and off the ice in the coming months."
This season the Cougars have increased their number of FEATURE GAMES from 10 to 12, meaning fans get even more access to the best games on the best nights with the best prizing!
Andy Beesley adds, "Over the course of the season we'll be giving away a car, a roof, a trip, free beer and loads of cash from our massive 50/50 jackpot draws! As an added perk to our Season Members, we are going to give them double the chances to win in certain draws and promotions throughout the year."
