
Ice Announce 2016-17 Schedule

Kootenay Ice News Release
Cranbrook, BC --Â Jeff Chynoweth, General Manager of the Kootenay ICE Hockey Club, today released the Club's 2016-2017 WHL regular season schedule. The ICE will open their 19th season in the East Kootenay region on the road Friday September 23 in Calgary, returning home to host the Hitmen in their 2016 home opener Saturday, September 24. The ICE will play a 72 game schedule (36 at home and 36 on the road) concluding Saturday, March 18 in Calgary.
Kootenay will play their Central Division rivals a total of 34 times, with seven matchups each against Calgary, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat and Red Deer. The ICE will face Edmonton six times. Kootenay will take on the East Division clubs (Brandon, Moose Jaw, Prince Albert, Regina, Saskatoon, and Swift Current) four times each (twice at home and twice on the road). The ICE host the five B.C. Division teams (Kamloops, Kelowna, Prince George, Vancouver and Victoria) once each. Kootenay will face Spokane five times (twice at home, three times on the road) and visit the four other U.S. Division clubs (Everett, Portland, Seattle, and Tri-City) once.
The ICE will play 25 of their 36 home games on weekends (ten Fridays, 11 Saturdays and four Sundays). Of the remaining home games six will be played on Tuesdays and five on Wednesdays.
Home games at Western Financial Place will start at 7:00 pm Tuesday through Saturday. Sunday home contests will begin at 4:00 pm with the exception of October 30 (2:00 pm).
